Global Franchise Magazine, an Aceville publication focusing on the latest global franchising news, advice and trends, has announced it will be accepting nominations Oct. 1, 2018 for the second annual Global Franchise Awards. Created to celebrate the hard work, drive and commitment of the people in the franchising sector on a global scale, the awards recognize exceptional, innovative brands driving change within the international franchising community.
Winners of the Global Franchise Awards – to be judged by an independent panel of key industry figures – will be announced at the annual International Franchise Association (IFA) convention, to be held Feb. 24-27, 2019 in Las Vegas.
“The awards provide well-deserved recognition to international industry-leading franchisors,” said Global Franchise Magazine Editor Ross Gilfillan. “With hundreds of entries from notable franchise brands across industries, last year’s inaugural awards were a resounding success. We look forward to seeing even more entries this year from returning and new brands. We appreciate the opportunity to recognize the exceptional work being done by these businesses.”
Winners will be selected by a panel of leaders in the industry. Categories include:
Each winner will be selected based on four overarching criteria – global growth intentions, a strong franchisor/franchisee relationship, innovative marketing and promotional plans and having played a part in advancing the cause of international franchising. The awards are the first to recognize and celebrate excellence in international franchising.
The Supreme Champion Award, sponsored this year by Fishman PR, represents the overall Global Franchise Award winner. This honor is given to the category winner that has, in the opinion of the Global Franchise magazine’s editor and staff, done the most to distinguish itself in the field of franchising. All applicants who were nominated for other categories are automatically considered for “Supreme Champion 2019.” Last year’s “Supreme Champion” winner, BrightStar Care, was also recognized as “Best Nursing & Care Franchise 2018.” Other winners included Waves Detail Pro, ChemDry, Expense Reduction Analysts, Tutor Doctor, Coyote Ugly and Gold’s Gym.
“We were honored to have received this prestigious industry award. I’m looking forward to being involved with the awards again this year, as a judge,” said Shelly Sun, CEO of BrightStar Care, former IFA Chairwoman and last year’s Global Franchise Awards Supreme Champion. “Franchising offers aspiring entrepreneurs across the world the chance to pursue their dream of business ownership, and the Global Franchise Awards are a wonderful way to celebrate the franchisors that make this possible.”
This year’s second annual awards feature several new categories, including “Best Emerging Franchise 2019,” “Best Signage & Communication Franchise 2019” and “Best White Collar Franchise 2019.” The categories were introduced to offer well-deserved recognition for additional vertical industries, as well as emerging franchise brands with fewer than 100 units. The “Best White Collar Franchise 2019” category has the widest vertical industry breadth, with nominations open to any franchise business in accounting, advertising, tutoring, human resources, IT and communications, legal services and other educational or business services.
Franchisors can submit themselves for more than one category. There is a $200 submission fee. The deadline to apply is Jan. 11, 2019. T
