Pancheros Mexican Grill to “Wrap” the Triangle in Burrito Bliss

CARY, N.C. – A new take on burritos in the Tar Heel State will soon become the talk of the town across the Triangle.

Pancheros Mexican Grill, known for its fresh-pressed tortillas and perfectly-mixed ingredients, announced today it has signed a multi-unit agreement with experienced restaurateur and Cary resident William Castaneda. The deal includes opening three Pancheros restaurants in the Cary region over the next several years.

“Pancheros has an incredibly loyal fan following…attracting almost a cult-like set of admirers. It will take just one bite of our fresh-pressed tortillas and our grilled ingredients to win over the Triangle.” said Castaneda, who also co-owns a Golden Corral location in Cary and won a prestigious honor from the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association for his management of the restaurant. “I’m thrilled to be a pioneer with Pancheros in North Carolina because I have no doubt that local residents’ will love the brand and our menu.”

The multi-unit agreement Pancheros struck with Castaneda marks the brand’s entry into North Carolina. Currently, site selection is underway for the first Cary location. A talented restaurant operator who emigrated to the United States from El Salvador in 2004, Castaneda has climbed the ranks in the restaurant industry, starting as an hourly employee. Through hard work and determination he worked his way into ownership with Golden Corral and now Pancheros.

“William is exactly the right entrepreneur to introduce Pancheros to North Carolina and specifically, Cary,” said Rodney Anderson, founder and CEO of Pancheros. “He’s already well-versed when it comes to owning and operating a successful restaurant and his strong ties to the Cary community make him the perfect fit as a franchisee.”

The franchise deal complements a period of strategic franchise growth for the brand. In addition to the upcoming new restaurants in the Cary market, Pancheros has several more openings already planned for 2019, including new restaurants in Texas and Minnesota. Plus, the brand is executing a strategic franchise growth strategy that targets expanding the concept into several key U.S. markets.

Based in Iowa City, Iowa, Pancheros has grown from its Midwest roots into 67 restaurants across 13 states, with each restaurant earning adoration and a loyal fan following in its community for its unsparing commitment to building better burritos, as well as burrito bowls, quesadillas, tacos and salads.

The build-your-own fast casual Mexican concept allows guests to customize their meal through every step of the preparation process, which is three minutes start to finish. Beginning with a fresh-pressed tortilla, bowl or taco, the menu features marinated and grilled meats or vegetables, beans, rice, cheese and salsa. Plus, Pancheros is cherished for its Chips and Queso, Mild Ancho Sauce and fresh-made guacamole.

The undisputed, top-tier purveyor of “Burritos Better Built,” Pancheros continually innovates its menu with unique limited-time offerings, such as Steak Chimichurri, Sizzlin’ Shrimp Tacos and more. The brand also now offers mobile ordering, delivery and catering options to further solidify its dedication to match customer convenience and preference.

About Pancheros

The beginning of Pancheros dates back to 1992 when Rodney Anderson opened the brand’s first restaurant in Iowa City, Iowa. Originally modeled after the Chicago taquerias that Anderson had visited often with his friends during his teenage years, the brand’s pursuit of constructing a better built burrito launched Pancheros into an evolution based on simplicity and fresh-pressed tortillas.

Since it’s humble beginnings, Pancheros has earned a loyal following for redefining the standards of modern burritos by using fresh-pressed tortillas and perfectly-mixed ingredients with the help of BOB the Tool, a unique plastic spatula used to carefully mix ingredients together to create the perfect taste in every bite.

Amid its popularity, the brand has successfully grown from its roots and today a robust franchising program has led to 67 restaurants, with more in development.
