BEAVERTON, Ore. – Tough Mudder Bootcamp, started by the Tough Mudder active lifestyle and media brand, continues to tackle obstacles with its first franchise location opening in Progress Ridge, offering the brand’s signature high-intensity interval training workout classes for the first time in Oregon.
Locally owned and operated by franchisees Dean and Lindsay Durfee, Tough Mudder Bootcamp draws from the same principles embedded in the Tough Mudder events, fostering a sense of community as class participants work together to accomplish their goals throughout a 45-minute HIIT-based workout. The fitness studio is located at 12345 Southwest Horizon Blvd., Suite number 53 in Beaverton and is open seven days a week.
“Fitness has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I’ve always preferred a functional workout that prepares people for the unknown and the unexpected,” said Dean. “My wife Lindsay and I are excited to bring Tough Mudder Bootcamp’s level of functionality to folks in Progress Ridge, and I think they’re going to fall in love with the approachable, team-centered workouts just like we did.”
Prior to opening Tough Mudder Bootcamp in Progress Ridge, Dean spent 18 years as a Trader Joe’s Captain where he directed the strategy and development of the crew. Throughout his career at Trader Joe’s, Dean was a CrossFit coach, bootcamp instructor, spin class instructor and Insanity Live instructor and also received his Nutrition and Personal Training certification. After researching several business opportunities over the last decade, Dean felt that Tough Mudder Bootcamp offered a level of approachability not often seen in the world of fitness, which prompted his decision to bring Tough Mudder Bootcamp to the residents of Progress Ridge.
Each bootcamp class acts as a “tribe” to motivate members to achieve their fitness goals. The classes leverage a variety of equipment, including dumbbells, kettlebells, sandbags, bodyweight training, turf, weight plates, assault bikes, rowers and an impressive monkey bar rig that expands the possibilities for a wide range of challenges within the space. Tough Mudder Bootcamp workouts integrate technology to deliver a seamless fitness experience, including TV screens to show exercise demonstrations, timers to maximize the class time for both members and coaches and MyZone integration for heart rate monitoring.
The opening in Progress Ridge is part of the internationally acclaimed brand’s strategic franchise expansion initiative, with nearly 50 units sold in the U.S. and almost 15 more in the pipeline.
“Dean and Lindsay are the perfect people to introduce Tough Mudder Bootcamp to Progress Ridge,” said Dan Henry, Director of Franchise Sales for Tough Mudder Bootcamp Franchising. “With each new location opening, we’re dedicated to finding franchisees like Dean and Lindsay – dedicated entrepreneurs who understand and are passionate about our brand, and have the experience and energy to introduce our unique team-based workouts to motivate and inspire a new wave of fitness enthusiasts of all skill levels.”
In addition to the opening in Portland, Tough Mudder Bootcamp has prioritized several key U.S. markets for further expansion, including Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Raleigh and Sacramento.
