Angry Crab Shack’s Summer Charity Campaigns Pull in Over $75,000 in Donations

PHOENIX – Angry Crab Shack continues to set a philanthropic example for the business community. The leading full-service Asian-Cajun seafood restaurant is set to present two checks, one for $37,653 to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and another for $40,000 to the Arizona Housing Coalition with funds raised during campaigns held this past July and August.

“Being in a position to be able to help the community is incredibly rewarding,” said Andrew Diamond, President of Angry Crab Shack. “These organizations – the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and the Arizona Housing Coalition – are doing amazing things for some of the most vulnerable groups in our community. We’ve woven these campaigns and community givebacks into our company culture and are excited for even more campaigns and partnerships down the road.”

For the past three years, Angry Crab Shack has partnered with the Arizona Housing Coalition, an organization that acts as a one-stop-shop for veteran resources. From offering housing assistance and clothing to providing meals and haircuts, the organization is focused on assisting homeless or at-risk veterans. Through their “You Dine we Donate” promotion, Angry Crab Shack vowed to donate $.25 per guest who simply walked through its door. Some vendors of Angry Crab Shack got involved and agreed to donate $.25 more for certain menu items that were purchased. The brand offers a 10 percent dine-in discount for military veterans, police officers, firefighters and teachers. Even more, Angry Crab Shack awards veterans, police officers and firefighters a 20 percent discount or $10,000 off their initial franchise fees for those interested in owning and operating an Angry Crab Shack.

“We couldn’t do the work that we do without the help of partners like Angry Crab Shack,” said Shane Groen, Special Initiatives Director with the Arizona Housing Coalition. “We were so blown away by Angry Crab Shack’s generosity and campaigns like these make all the difference in the world – we just can’t do this without community support.”

The donation for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital was raised during a three-month campaign leading up to the KTAR Give-A-Thon, which was held on Thursday, August 22. Angry Crab Shack’s donation of $37,653 helped the hospital surpass last year’s total giveback numbers, making this the most successful Give-A-Thon to date. This comes as part of a larger partnership with the hospital as the restaurant has added a menu item – Phoenix Children’s Fries – where $.25 from each order is donated to the hospital – as of November of 2017, Angry Crab Shack has raised more than $100,000 for the hospital.

Angry Crab Shack has six corporate and four franchise locations in Arizona, each dedicated to enhancing the community and providing delicious, fuss-free seafood in an upbeat environment. The restaurant draws on Asian and Cajun flavors – as well as a fun food presentation and a laid-back environment – to create an unparalleled dining experience for guests.

Best known for using the freshest ingredients, Angry Crab Shack sources lobster from the East Coast, Dungeness Crab from the Pacific Northwest, King Crab from Bering Strait, Snow Crab from Canadian waters, and crawfish from the Gulf of Mexico. Guests can expect a fun family experience where they can throw on a bib, roll up their sleeves, and dig in. The brand offers a variety of boils including, shrimp, crawfish, lobster, crab and more.
